Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how NetTop, a macOS menu bar app developed by Metromedya, handles your information. In short: your network statistics and usage history stay on your Mac, and NetTop has no account, no analytics and no ads.

1. Information We Collect

None. Metromedya does not receive your usage history, your network activity or any personal data from NetTop. There is no account, no sign-in, and no analytics, advertising or crash reporting inside the app.

2. What Stays on Your Mac

NetTop reads network activity from your Mac and keeps the following only on your Mac, inside the app's sandbox:

• Usage history: Download and upload totals per network, kept by hour for 8 days and by day for 3 years
• Per-app usage: Daily totals per app name, kept for 90 days
• Networks: Each network is stored under an identifier derived from your router, hashed, plus a name only if you type one. NetTop does not store your Wi-Fi network name
• Data limits and Count: The limits, reset days and counts you set
• Preferences: Your settings, and simple counters the app uses to decide when to show the NetTop Pro window

3. Deleting Your Data

In NetTop's settings, under Networks, you can remove a single network with its history or remove all data. Deleting the app removes its data from your Mac.

4. Outside Services NetTop Contacts

To work, a few features make requests to outside services. NetTop sends them no identifier, no usage data and nothing about you; like any website you visit, they can see your IP address:

• Speed test: Only when you start a test, NetTop transfers test data to and from Cloudflare's public speed test service (speed.cloudflare.com)
• Public IP address: To show your public IP address, NetTop asks ipify (api.ipify.org) shortly after launch and when your connection changes
• Connection details: While the connection details are on screen, NetTop asks ipinfo.io for the city, country and provider of your IP address, and measures latency with a short connection to 1.1.1.1
• Disconnect alert: Only if you turn this alert on, NetTop checks every few seconds that a Google (gstatic.com) or Apple connectivity page answers
• Other Apps: When you open the Other Apps tab, NetTop downloads the list of our apps from metromedya.com, sending only NetTop's bundle identifier and version

5. Purchases

NetTop Pro is bought through the Mac App Store. Apple processes the payment; NetTop only learns from Apple whether NetTop Pro is active on your Apple Account. See the Apple Privacy Policy.

6. Permissions

NetTop runs in the macOS App Sandbox. It uses outgoing network access, access to files you choose when you save a report, and notifications if you allow them, for data limit, report and disconnect alerts. It does not ask for Location access.

7. Children's Privacy

NetTop is suitable for all ages. It requires no account or personal information, and it does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always at nettop.app/en/privacy. Continued use of NetTop after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
